It has been 30 anniversary since the first Toy Story film debuted, launching Pixar as a leading film company and bringing audiences to iconic figures like Woody (the actor) and Buzz Lightyear (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.

Coming in 2026, the fifth installment is set to arrive. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 landed recently, offering a glimpse into the plot but keeping fans wondering how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

The Latest Addition: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Spooks the Toys

In the teaser reveals the young girl — who inherited the toy collection when he left for college — receiving a brand new toy, one that terrifies Woody, Buzz, and the crew. Bonnie acquires her initial digital gadget, and she is excited about it.

Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will animate just like Bonnie's other toys. However, the characters appear to consider it as a threat intending to supplant them, which it probably is.

Woody's Return: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4

An element the trailer avoids is why Woody is returned with his companions in the child's bedroom. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (Annie Potts), journeying with a carnival and assisting giveaway items find good homes.

Surely, the filmmakers will explain the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Witnessing him show up in the familiar setting unexpectedly is a little strange, though. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have returned with Woody. And where is Duke Caboom (Keanu Reeves)?

Connections from the Last Installment

At the very least, some elements are carrying over from the prior film. The last thing the cowboy did before setting off for his fresh path was pass his sheriff badge to the cowgirl (Joan Cusack), leaving her in charge of Bonnie's bedroom. In the teaser displays the insignia pinned to her outfit.

It is hoped she is still the driving force among the group.
